Job description:
The position for part-time cook is a 10 - 29 hour per week schedule, including occasional weekends. The part-time cook must be available to work extra hours as needed - namely, when the full-time cook is absent for vacation or sick time. The part-time cook is trained and instructed by Head Cook and supervised by the Jail Administrator.
DUTIES
The part-time cook's duties include, but are not limited to:
- Execute daily menu and special diet menu
- Prepare meals and tray assembly for 100 - 150 meals per day
- Follow procedures for leftover food
- Oversee proper food handling and production
- Maintain kitchen sanitation and hygiene standards
- Lift 20 – 50 pounds
- Maintain kitchen cleaning schedule
- Maintain proper rotation and storage of food items
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Log temperatures, meal count and cleaning duties
- Oversee kitchen personnel (trustees)
- Open communication with co-workers
- Compliance with all department procedures and regulations
- Knowledge of emergency procedures
- Must successfully pass pre-hire physical and drug screen
- Must have computer knowledge.
- Dietary and nutritional background experience/training and ServSafe Certification a plus
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be physically and psychologically fit
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Willing to work weekends and holidays
- Excellent moral character
