• Residential Detached Accessory Structures under 200sqft do not need a Building Permit
  • Non-Residential Detached Accessory Structures under 120sqft do not need a Building Permit
  • Siding, maintenance, minor repairs or finish work do not need a Building Permit
  • Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical permits are only issued by the State of Michigan
  • Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical permit inspections are only done by the State of Michigan
  • Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical permit finals need to be completed and approved before a final inspection can be done for a Building Permit
  • Driveway Permits can be obtained through Menominee County Road Commission (work within county easement)
  • Fire Numbers are obtained through the Township Supervisor in your Township
  • Floodplain, wetlands, or other permits are issued by MDNRE
  • Building Permits expire after 180 days if work has not started or no inspections are called for
  • You can request an extension for Building Permits in writing/phone/mail at no cost
  • Building Permit is required for any demolitions
  • Demolitions require 2 inspections (Prior to demo and once completed)
  • Engineered stamped drawings are required for sidewalls over 12ft high
