Buildings & Grounds is an internal sub-department within the Department of Administration responsible for maintaining the county’s facilities, infrastructure, and outdoor spaces to ensure safe, functional, and well-kept environments for residents, staff, and visitors. As an essential support division of county government, the department plays a key role in preserving and enhancing county-owned properties and public spaces.
Core Functions
The department’s work focuses on the care, upkeep, and operation of multiple county buildings, grounds, and related systems. Its key responsibilities include:
Maintenance & Repairs: Providing ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and repairs for county facilities, including the courthouse, jail, health department, library, annex, and associated offices.
Grounds Care: Managing outdoor grounds and parking areas to maintain safe, attractive, and accessible property environments.
Facility Systems: Overseeing mechanical systems such as fire alarms, fire suppression systems, heating, ventilation, and cooling equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained and functioning.
Vehicle & Equipment Support: Coordinating maintenance for county vehicles and heavy equipment used in facility and grounds operations.
