General Information

The Menominee County Sheriff's Office has teamed up with the 911 Cell Phone Bank to protect seniors and domestic violence victims through cell phone collections. Through partnership with the 911 Cell Phone Bank, the Sheriff's Office raises funds and provides free emergency cell phones to those in need. The Senior Center and the Domestic Violence Center will be the benefactors of the proceeds.

Under the agreement Menominee County Sheriff's Office will collect used cell phones in the community which will be turned over to the 911 Cell Phone Bank for processing. In return, the 911 Cell Phone Bank will provide the community with free emergency 911 phones as well as cash to be used in the community.

The 911 Cell Phone Bank is an initiative of The RMS Foundation, an organization dedicated to converting idle assets, like cell phones, for use toward the public good. Through its website (Cell Phone Bank) and collection sites nationwide the organization facilitates cell phone donations from businesses and consumers. Residents and businesses who have unused cell phones are encouraged to drop them off at 831 10th Avenue in Menominee. Cell phone stores especially are encouraged to ask their customers to donate their old cell phones to benefit the cause. If you would like to get involved or have a question, call Sheriff Marks at (906) 863-4441.
