CCW Application Process is as follows:
1.NEW applicant completes a pistol safety training course.
2.NEW and RENEWAL applicant obtains a Michigan Concealed Pistol License Application Kit.

3.NEW and RENEWAL applicant files their application with the County Clerk. DO NOT sign the application before bringing the application in. The County Clerk needs to witness your signature.
4.With the application, applicant must also include
•(NEW) a copy of the original certificate of completion of the pistol safety training course. Must include:
i.Date of the training (completed within 5 years preceding date of application)
ii.Name, signature and phone number of the instructor
iii.Instructor certificate number and expiration date
iv.The certification of completion shall contain the statement: "This course complies with section 5j of 1927 PA 372"
v.Name and number of State Agency or National Training Organization that Certified the Instructor
•or
•For RENEWAL licenses on applicants who were issued licenses after 7-1-2001, applicant does not need to have a certificate, but only comply with the requirements listed on the application form.
i.If license has been expired for more than one year, you have to complete the training course all over again, including fingerprints.
5.NEW and RENEWAL applicant pays a fee of $115 to the County Clerk at time of filing.
6.NEW and RENEWAL applicant receives a receipt for payment.
7.NEW Applicant provides receipt and has fingerprints taken by Sheriff's Office. Please call the Sheriff's Office prior to bringing in your application, as fingerprints are done by appointment only. Applicant can make an appointment by calling (906)863-4441 ext. 2503.
8.Sheriff's Office forwards fingerprints to the Michigan State Police for processing.
9.NEW and RENEWAL applicants receive their renewal card in the mail. Contact the County Clerk’s office if it is not received within 45 days of your fingerprint appointment.
The Sheriff's Office holds office hours at the Harris Township Hall every month. They are able to complete the entire application package at this office location, including the County Clerk’s duties. The hours are by appointment only. If there are no appointments scheduled for that day, an officer will not be present. Please call (906)863-4441 ext. 2503 to make an appointment. While the Sheriff's Office tries to maintain a regular schedule of Harris Township office hours every 3rd Wednesday of the month, circumstances may change this schedule from time to time.
