General Information

PROPERTY TAX AUCTION

Property Tax Auctions are held pursuant to the provisions of MCL 211.78m of Public Act 123 of 1999 as amended. Bids are not accepted in any form prior to the start of the public auction.

Menominee County's 2024 Property Tax Auction is over. Available properties throughout Michigan are available to view here:
www.Tax-Sale.info.

Please read the Standard Rules carefully and thoroughly. All properties are sold as-is and where-is; purchaser releases the County Treasurer from all liability.

FORECLOSURE SALE PROCEEDS

Beginning in 2021, in accordance with MCL 211.78t, those who hold title or equity interest in property at the time of foreclosure, may file to claim surplus proceeds, if any are available, associated to those parcels which sell for more than the owing delinquency.

Claiming potential proceeds begins with filing Form 5743 "Notice of Intention to Claim Interest in Foreclosure Sale Proceeds" with the Menominee County Treasurer by the July 1 immediately following the effective date of the foreclosure. The Menominee County Treasurer will respond by January 31 following the foreclosure auctions, with Form 5744 "Notice to Claimant to File Motion with the Circuit Court". Provided there are surplus proceeds remaining for the property, the claimant may then file Form CC 540 "Motion to Claim Remaining Proceeds From Tax Foreclosure Sale" with the Circuit Court between February 1 and May 15, following the notice from the Menominee County Treasurer. The Court will then set a hearing date and time to determine claim payments.
