Description

Menominee County operates a variety of scenic waterfront parks. Enjoy the Menominee River at Mason Park, River Park and Chappee Rapids; the Lake Michigan shoreline at Airport, Stoney Point, Bailey and/or Kleinke Park; or enjoy the multipurpose inland lakes at Shakey Lakes Park.

Each park has its own wonderful amentities to offer. Our largest park is Shakey Lakes, offering campsites (electrical or natural) to reserve and lease - amongst many other amentities that you would wish a park to have. Kleinke Park is our second largest park that also offers campsites to reserve and lease. Bailey Park is home to the historic West Shore Fishing Museum.

Menominee County Parks are open all year for recreational purposes. Camping is limited to May1, to Nov. 1. No camping is allowed after Nov. 1 of each year.

2024 Parks Price List


RESERVATIONS: Reservations for the 2024 camping season can be made online starting on March 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM CST. All camping in the Menominee County Parks System is by reservation only, which includes Shakey Lakes Park Campground, Kleinke Park Campground, and River Campground. Reservations may be made online using Menominee County’s online reservation system at www.menomineecountyparks.com or by calling the Menominee County Parks Department at 906-753-4582. Due to high call volumes, making your reservation online is highly encouraged. Reservations are limited to a maximum of fourteen (14) consecutive days on any site. You will be limited to making five (5) reservations per transaction; however, there will not be a limit on the number of transactions that you can make. A $10.00 non-refundable reservation fee will be charged for each reservation. To cancel a reservation, you will need to contact the Parks Department at 906-753-4582. Reservations cancelled seven (7) days or more before the check-in date will receive a full refund excluding the reservation fee. Reservations cancelled less than seven (7) days before the check-in date will not receive a refund. All vehicles are also required to purchase either the daily entrance pass for each day they are in the park or purchase an annual Menominee County Park Pass.

VEHICLE ENTRANCE FEES: All vehicles entering any Menominee County Park will be required to pay a daily fee or display an annual Menominee County Park Pass that is permanently affixed to the lower, right-hand side of the windshield of the vehicle. The Menominee County Park Pass will be valid for all county parks and boat launches. Annual passes for 2024 may be purchased online at www.menomineecountyparks.com starting December 15, 2023. A temporary pass can be printed and displayed on your vehicle’s dashboard immediately, and the permanent pass will be mailed to the address you provide within several days. Annual passes may also be purchased at the Menominee County Courthouse in Menominee, MI and the Menominee County Annex in Stephenson, MI.

SEASONAL LEASES: Menominee County will only accept six (6) month leases for seasonal sites at Shakey Lakes Park Campground and Kleinke Park Campground. All seasonal leases will be from May 1, 2024 to October 31, 2024. Seasonal leases are only being offered to those individuals that had a seasonal lease in 2023. No new seasonal leases are available at Shakey Lakes Park Campground or Kleinke Park Campground for the 2024 camping season. Seasonal sites are non-transferable, including between family members. Seasonal sites must be paid in full on or before March 1, 2024. Late payments or partial payments will not be accepted. Lessees will receive One annual Menominee County Park Pass. You will need to purchase an additional annual Menominee County Park Pass for each additional vehicle that you bring into the park. Lease applications will be sent out in early January of 2024 to those individuals that had a seasonal lease in 2023.

VEHICLE ENTRANCE FEES (Required for All Parks & Boat Launches)

DAILY - $ 5.00 per day
ANNUAL - $ 20.00 annually

A second annual pass may be purchased for $10 when purchased for a vehicle registered to the same owner and purchased at the same time as the original annual pass. Proof of vehicle registration is required.

CAMPING FEES

ELECTRIC - $ 25.00 per day
NON-ELECTRIC - $ 15.00 per day
RESERVATION FEE - $ 10.00 per reservation (non-refundable)

SEASONAL SITE FEES

SEASONAL SITE - $ 2050.00 annually

PAVILION RENTALS

PAVILION - $ 50.00 per day

IMPORTANT DATES

- DECEMBER 15, 2023 – ANNUAL VEHICLE ENTRANCE PASSES FOR 2024 ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE, AT THE MENOMINEE COUNTY COURTHOUSE IN MENOMINEE, MI, AND THE MENOMINEE COUNTY ANNEX IN STEPHENSON, MI.

- FEBRUARY 17 & 18, 2024 MICHIGAN FREE FISHING WEEKEND! ALL COUNTY ENTRANCE FEES ARE WAIVED.

- MARCH 31, 2024 – ALL SEASONAL SITES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY THE END OF THE DAY.

- MARCH 4, 2024 AT 10:00 AM CST – ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM WILL START ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS FOR THE 2024 CAMPING SEASON.

- MAY 1, 2024 – MENOMINEE COUNTY CAMPGROUNDS OPEN FOR THE SEASON.

- JUNE 8 & 9, 2024 – MICHIGAN FREE FISHING WEEKND! ALL COUNTY ENTRANCE FEES ARE WAIVED.

- JULY 18 – 21, 2024 – MENOMINEE COUNTY FAIR AT SHAKEY LAKES PARK.

- OCTOBER 31, 2024 – MENOMINEE COUNTY CAMPGROUNDS CLOSE FOR THE SEASON.



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

- Menominee County’s campgrounds open on May 1 of each year. Depending on weather, the campgrounds may open earlier than expected. However, no camping is permitted in the county campgrounds when they are closed.

- Menominee County’s campgrounds close on October 31 of each year. Depending on weather, the campgrounds may close later than expected. However, no camping is permitted in the county campgrounds when they are closed.

- All Menominee County Parks are open to recreation year-round. However, some roads and trails are not maintained in the winter months.

- All county entrance fees are waived during Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend. 2024 Free Fishing Weekend Dates are February 17 & 18, 2024 and June 8 & 9, 2024.

- The Menominee County Board of Commissioners adopted a new County Parks Use Ordinance in February 2021. This ordinance was created to protect Menominee County’s beautiful public parks and to ensure everyone that visits our parks has an enjoyable experience. A copy of the new ordinance can be found on the Parks Department’s page on Menominee County’s website.
