The Menominee County Road Commission is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Menominee County Road Commission seeks an Engineer-Manager

The Menominee County Road Commission, located in Stephenson, Michigan, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer-Manager, due to the upcoming retirement of the current Engineer-Manager.

Under the direction of a three-member Board of County Road Commissioners, the Engineer-Manager is responsible for overseeing and supporting the Road Commission staff; delegating tasks and responsibilities as needed; meeting deadlines and directives in a timely manner; and possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ideal candidate must have project planning skills and development ability relating to construction projects; understanding of human resource management; union labor relations; contract negotiations; and fiscal management and budget control. The Road Commissionís budget is approximately eight (8) million dollars annually.

A Bachelorís Degree in Civil Engineering with a P.E. License in the State of Michigan is preferred as well as at least three (3) years management experience. Knowledge of road construction, Michigan Transportation Funding, and an understanding of local, state and federal highway financing is desired.

The Menominee County Road Commission is a thirty-four (34) person organization that has jurisdiction over 1,120 miles of primary and local roads within 14 Townships as well as maintenance responsibilities for 197 lane miles of State Highway under a contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation. The Road Commission has one location that houses both the maintenance facilities and administrative offices located in Stephenson, MI and two additional satellite maintenance garages located in Menominee and Powers, Michigan.
