General Information

Property owners with taxes that are three years delinquent will be foreclosed and the property will be sold at public auction. People who fail to pay thier 2006 delinquent property taxes will lose their property to foreclosure in March 2009.

Delinquent taxes that are more than two years old have a substantially higher interest rate (1.55 per month, as opposed to 1% the first year). After two years, taxes will also have a $175 forfeiture fee and additional administrative fees added to them.

If you can't pay your taxes all at once, you can still make partial payments. Make your check payable to the Menominee County Treasurer. To ensure your payment is applied to your parcel, please write your parcel number on your check or money order. The mailing address is:

Timeline for 2006 Taxes


July/December 2006:


2006 property taxes billed and collected by local unit.


March 1, 2007:

Unpaid 2006 property taxes forwarded to county treasurer for collection.
4% administration fee and 1% per month interest is added to each parcel.



October 1, 2007:


$15 fee is added per parcel.



March 1, 2008:


Property is forfeited to county treasurer. County treasurer adds a $175 fee.
Interest increases to 1.5% per month, back to the date the taxes bacame delinquent.



January 31, 2009 - March 10, 2009:


Circuit court enters a judgment of foreclosure.
From judgment date owners have until March 31, 2009, to pay the taxes or lose their property.
After March 31, 2009, clear title to the property passes to the county.

July 2009:
County sells property at public auction.
