The Menominee County Reapportionment Board conducted it's organizational meeting on 2/18/11 at the Menominee County Courthouse.

The board adopted rules of procedure and discussed conducting some meetings in the Mid-County and northern part of Menominee County.

The board will ask the county board to appropriate $5,000 to cover expenses, including the potential purchase of software to aid in the reapportionment process.

State law mandates that the reapportionment board determine the size of the Menominee County Board and draw the commissioner district boundaries.
This task has to be completed within 60 days of the board being provided the 2010 census data. The Commissioner districts must be drawn so that equal population is distributed throughout the county.

The board will receive the census data no later than April 1, 2011, but may receive it sooner. When the formal meeting schedule is adopted, the board encourages input from the public.

There are currently five commissioner districts. The board will explore the possibility of increasing the commissioner districts. Once the plan is approved, it will be in effect for 10 years.

The apportionment board approved 9 commissioner districts. Click here for the 9 district map.
